1909 Conn “Perfected Wonderphone” long model Bb/A cornet

 This is a 1909 Conn "Perfected Wonderphone" cornet with a complete kit in very good condition.   The cornet is gold plated as are the components of the kit.  The cornet was obtained by the current owner about 45 years ago and has been kept in good playing condition in that time.   It is an "M" stamp on the middle valve and the bore measures at .450 at the second valve slide.  The cornet is in low (modern) pitch.

This cornet was one of Conn's top models of this era and was made in the year before the Conn factory was destroyed by fire.

The kit includes a second tuning slide (for A), a Conn mute, cleaning rod, lyre and two mouthpieces.  The mouthpieces are heavily engraved and are a Wonder Model 19 and Liberati model.  Both mouthpieces are in excellent condition.

The case is in very good condition.  It is excellent on the interior and shows some external wear.  It even comes with the original key!

Valve compression is very good and all slides function smoothly.   The gold plating shows some thinning, but is still intact on the entire cornet, with the exception of a small spot on the valve casing where the player's right thumb touches the valve casing.  The gorgeous bell engraving is in excellent condition and extends past the first valve.
