1946 Chicago Benge Bb trumpet SOLD
Email us about this trumpet - centexbrass@gmail.com
This is a 1946 Chicago Benge, made when Eldon Benge was still making handmade trumpets, which were still very much in the model of the French Besson trumpet.
It has likely been replated in the past and the valves have recently been replated. The engraving is sharp and clear, but the silver plating is showing some wear. There are minor dings in various locations, but the bell flare does not appear to have had any major work done to it. The inside of the leadpipe is clean and clear, but the outside of the pipe shows signs of some wear.
Medium large (.460) bore with all original parts and each valve spring barrel is stamped with the serial number. The wrap around first slide saddle has been added.
The horn plays very well and is a great example of a Chicago Benge. Since the valves have been redone, this horn has many years of life left in it, but might be a candidate for a full restoration down the road. For now, it can be enjoyed as a great playing Chicago Benge with all original parts.
Comes with the original case showing some wear and with a vintage trumpet odor, but should be kept with this horn as the Chicago Benge trumpets and cases are somewhat rare.
