1949 Olds Super Recording Trumpet SN 32732

1949  Olds Super Recording trumpet

We wrote a general description of the Super Recording model a few years back and it is often copied by others, but this is our original description, so if it sounds familiar, it is because others have flattered us by copying it!

The Super Recording represents the pinnacle of Olds craftsmanship and was the horn that attracted legendary trumpet virtuoso Rafael Mendez to become an Olds artist and later to lend his name to the Mendez model.  The Super Recording was actually known at the time as the "Recording model Super trumpet."  Prior to its introduction in Olds lineup, the Super was the top model.  Thus the new model built on the reputation of the Super. The Super Recording had three different design phases during its approximately 12 year production run.  This represents the final  of the three phases.

In addition to the tone ring, this version has "SUPER" and "RECORDING"  engraved in a cross style, but the "R" at the end of "SUPER",  being the "R in the middle of "RECORDING".

This Super Recording came to us with very tired original lacquer and excellent original valves.  We had it stripped to raw brass and had Charlie Melk inspect the valves and do a precision valve alignment.  That was two years ago.  The new buyer played it very little and decided to downsize his collection, so we have it back.  The engraving is very sharp, indicating no excessive  buffing.  The raw brass has started to develop a little patina, but it would not be difficult to polish it back to a bright shine, or let it continue to develop patina.

All parts are original.

This trumpet is in excellent  playing condition.  Valve compression is excellent.

Does not come with a case.
