This is a 1958 Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet in excellent condition.  The trumpet was recently acquired from the family of the original owner.  The trumpet was restored a number of years ago and then stored.  Nothing is known about who did the restoration, but based on the condition of the engraving, great care was taken with the trumpet.

There are two flaws which are shown in the photos.  There is a nick on one side of the mouthpiece receiver but a Bach mouthpiece seats just fine, so the damage is only cosmetic.   The third valve piston is not original to the horn.  The first and second pistons have the serial number stamped on the spring barrels, while the third valve piston does not.

As shown on the shop  card, the bore is Large or .462 and the bell and leadpipe are both #25.  Although it is not an item marked on the shop card, this trumpet has a french bell bead, which is quite desirable. The trumpet has monel valves and the third slide waterkey was installed when the horn was made.  

Valve compression is like new, so either they were refitted when the horn was restored or this horn was played very little.

Comes with the original Mount Vernon case which is in exceptional condition both inside and out.  The handle is in fine shape as are the latches and springs.  

Although there is a lot of mystique surrounding Mount Vernon Bach trumpets, some are great players and some are not.  We'd put this one clearly in the great playing category.
