1961 Mount Vernon Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet
SOLD
This is a 1961 Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet in very good condition. The trumpet has had a complete valve replating/refitting by Charlie Melk in 2022 along with replacement of the leadpipe, replacement of a slide crook and the application of a couple of preventative patches.
The trumpet is currently raw brass with some patina beginning to develop. It is a medium large bore with a 37 gold brass bell. Although Bach used a variety of types of brass over the years, in the Mount Vernon era, most bells were yellow brass, so a gold brass bell from this era is uncommon.
The two preventative patches are on the underside of he bell where the left hand touches the bell and do not detract from the function or appearance of the horn.
The shop card has been obtained and in addition to confirming the specifications of this trumpet, it also shows an interesting original owner... Russian Sym Orch. Nothing is known of the history of this horn and how it might have left the original owner. That might be an interesting story. Everything matches the shop card except that there is now a fixed ring on the third slide rather than the adjustable one noted on the shop card.
This horn is a fantastic player and is representative of the fine horns that were produced in the Mount Vernon era. As with many of the good Mount Vernon Bachs, it does show signs of heavy use, but with the replated valves and new leadpipe, it has years of life left in it.
Does not come with a case, but we have a number of Mount Vernon cases also for sale if you want to add that to your purchase.
