1962 Martin Committee Deluxe #3 Large Bore Bb cornet SOLD

This is a Martin Committee Deluxe  cornet that was made near the end of Richards Music Corporation's ownership of the Martin label.  Committees of this era are considered to be very good players and this cornet lives up to that reputation.

 Although not nearly as well known as the Committee trumpet, this cornet shares the rare #3 bore (.468) that is widely sought after.  In reviewing other Committee cornets that are for sale or have been sold on publicly available sources, we have not located another #3 bore cornet.     

This cornet has been professionally owned for decades and is  being sold as part of the extensive trumpet collection of famed  west coast studio trumpet player Rick Baptist and will come with a hand written note from Rick describing the history of this horn  and his association with the previous owner, Dick Cathcart.  Dick used this cornet when he played on Disney's "Jungle Book" and no doubt many other movies and records during his long  career.  Dick gave the cornet to Rick to use on Disney's "The Little Mermaid".   

The cornet is in excellent playing condition, but does have some signs of dent removal in the leadpipe and a few other areas of lacquer loss.   It appears to have had a first slide trigger in the past that has been removed.   The original Samsonite case is in good over all condition, with some wear at the exterior case corners.
