This is a 1965 Conn Connstellation 38B Bb trumpet. The Connstellation was played by many famous players, including Maynard Ferguson, Snooky Young, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Chet Baker and Cat Anderson in the 1950's and '60's . The 38B is the larger bell version of this horn.
Here is what Conn said in the 1966 catalog:
"Here is the large bore feel that top artists prefer. Produces six to 12 decibels more sound for the same player effort. The finest of mechanical superiority. First valve trigger. Micro-finish mouthpipe. Electro-D bell and mouthpipe. Undercut slides. Length 21½". Bell 5 1/8".
Clear lacquer is placed over nickel plated horns and with very few exceptions, the lacquer does not hold up well over time. Most Connstellations of this era have a rough appearance due to chipping and pealing of the lacquer. This particular instrument is very good condition with only minimal wear to the lacquer. The original case shows some external wear but is in overall good condition.
Valves are fast and smooth with very good compression. Slides operate smoothly. No dents, damage or signs of past repairs.
