1967 Burbank Benge MLP Bb trumpet SN 6335

1967 Burbank Benge MLP Bb trumpet

SOLD

This is a vintage Benge trumpet made by the original Benge company in Burbank California.  It has the original silver plating in very good condition. Unfortunately, it has the common Benge traits of red rot in the leadpipe and mouthpiece receiver.  The trumpet has been cleaned and with proper care and diligent cleaning, it may be many years before any parts will need to be replaced.   The valves show wear to the plating, but the compression and valve action is still good.  The flaws on this trumpet are typical on a Benge of this era.  Sometimes we will replace parts, but since this horn has original plating in good condition and is a great player as it is, we opted to offer it in original condition.

The MLP is also known as the 3x+ or Medium Large Plus model and has a .464 bore.  Burbank MLPs are highly sought after and we acquired this from someone who owned this for the past 30 years.

There is a "3" stamped on the connecting ferrule on the bell tail indicating the bell number and MLP is stamped on the middle  valve casing.

The trumpet plays well and is a great example of what made these Benge trumpets so popular for commercial work in the 60's and 70's.
