This is a 1969 Conn Connstellation 36B Bb trumpet. The Connstellation was played by many famous players, including Maynard Ferguson, Snooky Young, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Chet Baker and Cat Anderson in the 1950's and '60;s . The 36B is the lightweight and smaller bell version of this horn.
Here is what Conn said in the 1963 and 1966 catalogs:
1963 - A little easier to fill and lighter to hold than the 38B. Provides a little more to "blow against" in the upper register. Lower register, though big and full, is slightly less resonant than the 38B. Length 21¾", bell 4 5/8". Polished nickel plate with brass trim.
1966 - Complete with Connstellation case. For those who like the 38B features but prefer an instrument a little easier to fill in all registers and lighter to hold. Medium large bore feel. Length 21½". Bell 4 5/8".
Clear lacquer is placed over nickel plated horns and with very few exceptions, the lacquer does not hold up well over time. Most Connstellations of this era have a rough appearance due to chipping and pealing of the lacquer. This particular instrument is exceptional condition with only the most minimal wear to the lacquer. The case, trumpet, and original gold plated Conn mouthpiece are in excellent condition looking much they did when leaving the Conn plant in Elkhart in 1967.
Valves are fast and smooth with very good compression. Slides operate smoothly. No dents, damage or signs of past repairs.
Comes with original case in excellent condition and a Gold plated Conn 7B-N mouthpiece that is original to this horn.
