1968 Conn 8B Lightweight Artist Bb trumpet
SOLD
This is one of Conn's iconic models from the later years of the original Conn company. Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw and Lee Morgan all played this model during their careers. As well known as the model is, it is somewhat hard to find, particularly in very good condition as this one is..
This particular trumpet is the silver plated version and the plating is very good showing no areas of plating loss. There are a few scratches and nicks but no signs of major repair or trauma.
It has a #1 bore (.438") but similar to many other Conn models with this bore, it doesn't play tight or restricted.
Here is what Conn said about this model in 1966:
Designed to please the performer who demands an exceptionally lightweight (2 pounds, 6 ounces) free-blowing trumpet with just the right amount of edge to project in any brass section. Response is instantaneous. Aluminum valve stems. Aluminum guide cup. Lightweight braces. Third valve slide throw ring. Brass bell. Length 21½". Bell 4 5/8".
Does not come with a case, but we can supply a generic case or gig bag if requrested. We have a Conn case in our inventory for sale, but it will not fit this wider wrap trumpet.
