1974 Los Angeles Benge MLP Bb trumpet

This is a 1974 Los Angeles Benge MLP in excellent playing  condition. Also known as the 3x+ or Medium Large Plus model, it has a .464 bore. It was very popular for lead and commercial playing in the 1970's and 80's and is still a very desirable model.

It has been recently replated by Anderson's Plating with freshly replated/refitted valves.

This trumpet is being sold on consignment for a noted brass repair technician who has provided this description of the condition and restoration of the trumpet:

"I bought this horn many years ago as a project.  Even before the restoration, it was a great player, so I've kept it as original as possible, even accepting some red rot.  There are spots on the leadpipe, some outer slides, and the top of the bell near the second valve. But they are stable and contained under silver plating. If cared for properly, it's ready for its second fifty years. The horn plays so well I didn't want to change critical parts. It features many new parts that wear out on Benge trumpets. (finger buttons, mouthpiece receiver, etc.).  They are all real Benge parts from that era I've collected over the years. The bell has a small hole about the size of a ballpoint pen tip that I patched on both sides with decorative patches. People have reacted positively to them, visually they're kind of cool.

It definitely takes air to play it, I had to get used to its larger bore. The sound is sweet, until you jump on it, then as one friend put it, "it barks." Would be well suited for a lead player or just some one who wants a free-blowing instrument."

Comes with a Pro-Tec case in good used condition.
