1922 Conn 11A Wonder Vocal Cornet in Bb and C

This is Conn Vocal cornet in Bb and C  (and A).  Although not marked on the leadpipe, all indications are that is an 11A, the high pitch version of this cornet being made at the time, as opposed to the low pitch version 10A.  However, it also comes with a second slide for the rotor marked LP, so with this slide inserted, it can be played in modern Low Pitch.

This cornet comes with a complete extra set of slides for C.  The slides in the horn in these photos are marked Bb and the second set of valve slides are shorter, so these would be for C.   The original case is in good condition and all parts of the original kit - slides, mute, cleaning rod, and grease are still in the case.  The only thing missing from the original kit is a mouthpiece, which is probably the easiest to acquire if the buyer is looking for a complete kit.

This cornet does not show any wear or damage and all slides are free.  It still has the original gold wash bell.   Given the age of this cornet, it likely that the valves have been replated in the past, but they show some wear so it was likely many years ago.  They valves operate smoothly and have good compression.

This is an outstanding example of the quality that Conn was producing 100 years ago and is an excellent collector quality instrument.
