1938 Olds Super trumpet - SOLD

This is a 1938 Los Angeles Olds Super Bb trumpet in excellent restored  condition.  There may be some light reflection which shows some distortion, but this horn has a stunning appearance. It has an LM bore marking.  While the 1937 catalog indicates the Super came in only one special bore, it must have been only for the very first Supers because a year or so later, there are Supers with M, LM, and SYM bore markings.  Although marked LM, the bore on this Super measures as .453 at the second valve.

Although a .453 bore would be a small or medium bore for a newer trumpet, this Super does not feel tight or restricted, so you should not be concerned that the bore will not allow for a full rich sound, which this Super has.

This trumpet was fully restored in 2021 and has seen minimal use since that time. The valves have been replated/refitted by Charlie Melk and it was given a precision valve alignment.  It has been restored in new lacquer and looks and plays like a new horn.  This is a completely original horn.   Valve action and compression is excellent.  The only flaws are that the bottom caps and an area of the valve casing were damaged in the past.  This is shown in the photos.

These early Supers are considered some of the best Supers ever made. Compared to post-war horns, this is a lighter weight horn.

This trumpet clean inside and out. All slides are smooth. Engraving is sharp and clear. Matching serial numbers on the valve spring barrels, valve stems and top caps.

Does not come with a case but we can provide a generic case if you need one.
