This is a 1940 Los Angeles Olds Super that is in original condition with all original parts. It has much of the original lacquer remaining with some wear as shown in the photos. The pre-war models like this one had hollow 1st and 3rd slide push rods. Both the push rods are original to this horn, which is quite unusual.
This is a somewhat rare late pre-war model.
Design elements of the Super trumpet are highlighted in our online article, Super Evolution
These pre-war Supers are considered some of the best trumpets Olds ever made. This is a lightweight horn.
The early Olds literature indicated that the Super was made only in one bore size, but then several bore sizes were made... M, LM, and SYM. The SYM bore was .462 and although this trumpet does not have a bore designation, it is a .462 bore. Shortly after this horn was made, Olds standardized future Supers with a .460 ML Bore.
This trumpet clean inside and out. All slides are smooth.
Engraving is sharp and clear. Matching serial numbers on the valve spring barrels, valve stems and top caps.
The valve plating on this trumpet appears to be original. The valve compression and action is very good.
Does not come with a case.
