1948  Olds Super trumpet

This is a 1948 Los Angeles Olds Super Bb trumpet. It is from an excellent era of Olds production. The horn retains almost all of its original lacquer with the only significant wear being on the leadpipe.  There were a number of splotches on the outside of the leadpipe but the inside is smooth and shiny.  We had it inspected fully and there is no indication of red rot, only wear to the lacquer, so we had the lacquer stripped from the leadpipe.  Upon checking the valve compression, two of the valves were marginal so we had Charlie Melk do a full valve replate/refit and precision valve alignment.   With the refitted valves, this horn plays very well.

This horn has all original parts and matching serial numbers on the piston spring barrels. This trumpet is clean and straight with no signs of any trauma or past repair.

This is a Super from the early post-war era, which has these distinctive features:

1) It has the trombone lever water key on the third valve slide which was discontinued a few years after this horn was made

2) It has the flat style bracing which was also discontinued a few years later

This trumpet clean inside and  out. All slides are smooth. Engraving is sharp and clear. 

No case is included, but we can provide a generic case if needed.
