1954 Mount Vernon Bach Stradivarius large bore Bb trumpet
This trumpet is being sold for the family of the original owner and is in excellent playing condition with a fair amount of wear to the original finish, but no dents or signs of past dent or solder work. It is an excellent original condition unmolested and unmodified early Mount Vernon trumpet.
The valve compression is excellent and although this trumpet was played professionally by the original owner for a number of years, the valves show no wear and no loss of compression is detected.
The leadpipe is the original pipe and is the longer (13 inch) pipe that was used on early Mount Vernon models until Bach changed to the shorter pipe later in the Mount Vernon era. It is clean and clear on the inside of the pipe. There is a small discolored area on the outside of the pipe that may be the start of red rot, but since the inside of the pipe is clear, this may just be some uneven wear.
Much of the lacquer on the bell is gone and other areas of the instrument have darkened remaining original lacquer.
All parts appear to be original with matching serial numbers on the spring barrels, top caps, and valve stems.
This trumpet comes with the original case in very good condition as well as original paperwork, a collection of mutes and a Mount Vernon 10 1/2 C mouthpiece and an Elkhart 7CW mouthpiece.
The original guarantee has Mount Vernon added with a stamp over New York 67!
