Wanted to let you know that I am enjoying the horn very much.  This past week I played it for legit duets with a friend, in three big bands rehearsals, a big band dance job, a British brass band where we are using trumpets for a pops concert and in a community band setting plus practice at home.  So it had a good workout.  Valves are terrific and it is particularly interesting to compare playing it and my 1946 Super that also has recently redone valves.  Both are great horns with different playing and sound characteristics.  I will continue to use my Super for big band lead playing and use the super recording for other chairs.  The 1946 super recording and my 1960s recording are also dramatically different.  Fun to compare!

This C trumpet is a wonderful horn! Just as described and then some, with a very lovely tone when paired with a good mouthpiece (I personally use a Denis Wick 2W). Silver plate is gorgeous, compression is great, and the slides and valves all feel solid and quick. It was also packaged very well and the seller was easy to contact for questions. I definitely know where to check if I have any trumpet/brass needs.

4-19-23     The Olds Ambassador "C" model just arrived earlier today. No issues whatsoever. Thanks for a great transaction. The Trumpet sounds great AND added bonus 310,XXX SN i.e 1959 is one of my favorite years for the Ambassador - Olds did heavier duty water valve levers & threaded stop rod for the 3rd valve slide. I think they only did this 58-60 or so, just a few years.

2-14-23    Just have a few minutes so far on this Special and so far YES this is exactly what I've been looking for. I was playing my '69 special until I got a '62 which I liked more, then I was on my '57 special until I received this one which I like even more so far! I guess the older the better, ha!

(And as gorgeous as the horn)   The horn plays just awesome … As good or better than my Mendez. Love the valve action. Love the concave MOP finger tip buttons. Great tone, easy to get up to my high range “F”. Yeah the lacquer spots take away some, but it still looks good being original . I am pleased to own this rare horn.

5-15-20 As far as how it blows……..well I was kind of disappointed at first…….seemed to blow a bit hard. But I think that was just because I had been playing an Ambassador, and a Super (trumpet), which to me, blow incredibly easy. So after I played some lyrical studies, which have always sounded best to me on cornet, I think the Super Cornet and I got acquainted pretty well. A beautiful instrument.
