1939 Olds Super trumpet

This is a 1939  Los Angeles Olds Super that is in good original condition.  

The trumpet appears to have original parts with matching serial numbers stamped in various locations.  Little of the original lacquer was remaining so it has been stripped and polished.   There were some dents in the bell crook that have been removed.   The valve compression was poor, so we had Charlie Melk replate/refit the valves and perform a precision valve alignment.   

This is a somewhat rare late pre-war model.   The Super was introduced in 1937, so this trumpet was made in the first few years of production.

These pre-war Supers are considered some of the best trumpets Olds ever made. 

This is a lightweight horn, weighing only  33.6 ounces, as light or lighter than most Schilke, Calicchio and French Besson trumpets.

The early Olds literature indicated that the Super was made only in one bore size, but then in the 1939 catalog, several bore sizes were made... M, LM, LLM and SYM. This trumpet has an LLM designation, it is measures as a .461 bore.

Shortly after this horn was made,  Olds standardized future Supers with a .460 ML Bore.

This trumpet clean inside and out.  All slides are smooth.   

Engraving is sharp and clear.  Matching serial numbers on the valve spring barrels, valve stems and top caps.
